Grab ‘em with your eyes

Everyone’s got a fetish.  Some are into feet, others are into hair.  But most are into eyes.  So how do you captivate with your eyes?

Check out these key looks that'll put anyone under your spell: smokey eyes, lilac, and neutrals and fresh.

The beautiful Claire Danes can pull off any of these looks, and still look gorgeous.   Her beauty shines through clearly at this Miu Miu event!  How does she do it….?

Blast from the Past

Ok, so maybe I’m over-exaggerating…perhaps I’ve even been living under a rock for the last several years, but seriously, when was the last time you’d heard the name “Biotherm”? Especially since the brand has been around for 50 years (yes, I said 50 years!)

If you’re like me, and it’s been awhile since you’ve heard that name, then hold onto your seat because they’re making a comeback (of sorts).

The “re-launch” of Biotherm’s best selling categories:  AquaSource, Age Fitness, and newest addition, Rides Repair, will hit shelves in January.  ‘Rides Repair’ is a great complement to the overall line as it’s focused on complexion enhancing and anti-aging, which, for those of you in the “know” is exactly what AquaSource and Age Fitness, respectively specialize in.

Haute Couture Ups the Ante

Following in the footsteps of Yves Saint Laurent, Dolce & Gabbana will make its first foray into cosmetics.  Partnering with the grande dame of makeup, artist Pat McGrath who oversees the D&G models backstage at runway shows, and Proctor & Gamble’ Prestige Products division, the new line is expected to hit retailers at the end of January.

Rumor has it a lucky Hollywood starlet will be the face of the new line…stay tuned.

A Marriage of the Minds

Ahh yes, another marriage of spa + beauty collides.  The latest newcomer is Australian makeup artist, Sue Devitt.   Devitt’s “Spa Collection”, merges spa treatment and color together with prices ranging from $32 for the powders to $62 for the Microaquatic Lactic Renewal Facial Peel.

Designed to improve skin’s elasticity, exfoliate, and reduce hyperpigmentation and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, this mineral collection is sure to bring out the best in you.

Hmm….mineral collection, huh?  Dare I say this is reminiscent of Bare Escentuals…I think I smell another 2009 trend....

Who say’s peer pressure doesn’t exist?

The Millennial generation has taken its toll on us again.  In a positive way though, of course!  This time, striking the 81-year old brand, Erno Laszlo, with a newly launched e-commerce site www.ernolaszlo.com.

Designed to attract a younger generation, this modern site is much easier to navigate than previous.  “Sleek” and “Clean” are the best ways to describe this site.  If you’ve ever shopped at Sephora online, you’ll sense a certain familiarity.  Keeping in line with the “need it now” mentality that’s so prevalent in the Millennial generation, you’ll appreciate how quickly the screens change at the slightest click.

The crowd favorite however, is the “LaszloMatic”.  After responding to a few simple questions, the “LaszloMatic” give you a complete beauty regime!  Talk about service right at your fingertips…..love it!

To Protect & Serve

What’s the next big thing in skincare?  A little thing called Astaxanthin. This powerful antioxidant has been around the block to say the least.  Derived from microalgae, it’s been used from aiding muscle recovery all the way to treating autoimmune disease.  Of course, beauty experts would be working to get their hands on this soon.  And that time has come.

Claiming to be 1,000 times more effective at fighting free radicals than Vitamin E, Astaxanthin is now in a vitamin supplement called Astavita Skin Defense Complex (far easier to pronounce than its namesake!).  This pill is designed to improve skin from the inside out!  I guess beauty really does run skin deep!  Exclusively sold at Barneys New York for $95, check out more at www.astavita.com.
